目的

法律, 政策与政治学学位是开放获取的, career-oriented curriculum for those interested in a career as a para法律 or working in government and politics. 学生将从三种专注度选择中选择一种, (1)法学研究, (2)政府和公共政策或(3)政治学.

法律研究方向

The Bachelor of Science degree with a concentration in Legal Studies is designed to prepare students to enter the 法律 field as a para法律 or 法律 assistant working under the supervision of an attorney in the public, 私人, 或者政府部门. 另外, students will gain a solid foundation for graduate studies in law or careers in other areas, 包括公司合规性, 人力资源, 和银行.

This program is oriented around the critical job functions of competent and ethical professionals working in the 法律 services industry. Students must take a minimum of 18 credits of "法律 specialty" courses to earn a degree in Legal Studies. The 18 credits may be satisfied with a combination of transfer courses and courses taken at pp电子. A 法律 specialty is defined by the American Bar Association (ABA) as a course that covers substantive law or 法律 procedures or processes, 是为律师助理开发的吗, 强调律师助理的实用技能, 并符合美国律师协会的指导要求. The Legal Studies concentration offers 法律 specialties in synchronous or face-to-face, 混合动力, 以及在线格式. Legal Specialty courses can be identified by course description and by the Basic Course Information provided on the website.

Students must take a minimum of 9 credits of 法律 specialty courses through traditional, 面对面或同步课堂教学. This requirement may be satisfied through any combination of semester, block, or 混合动力 courses.

The Legal Studies concentration may accept in transfer equivalent, 在其他机构修读的法律专业课程. A maximum of 21 credits of 法律 specialty courses may be accepted from ABA-approved institutions, and a maximum of 9 credits of 法律 specialty courses may be accepted from institutions which are not ABA-approved.

The award of credit for 法律 specialty courses through Portfolio Assessment or by Examination is coordinated by the 法律, 政策, and Political Science program Chair to ensure that the quality and integrity of the program are maintained. Any award of credit requires the approval of the program Chair upon demonstration that the credits can be classified as 法律 specialty, meets the course objectives and practical 技能 to be developed for the course for which credit is being awarded, 满足该计划所服务的法律社区的需求, 并且与项目中提供的课程作业相当. Lambda Epsilon Chi (LEX) is a national honor society for para法律 students and one of the highest scholastic honors that can be achieved in the pp电子 学院 社会与行为科学. A Completion Degree is a personalized version of a Bachelor’s degree created exclusively for students who have completed an Associate’s degree at an accredited institution. A student who expects to transfer a completed Associate’s degree should communicate with a pp电子 Academic Advisor before registering for courses. A transcript with documentation of the conferred degree must be received by pp电子 to confirm eligibility.

POL to MSM with a concentration in Public Administration Accelerated Option

This accelerated option will allow eligible POL students who have selected a concentration in Government and Public 政策 to have the option of taking up to two selected graduate level courses in place of selected POL courses and the opportunity to be formally accepted into the MSM program with a concentration in Public Administration prior to completion of the B.S. 法律、政策和政治学学士学位.
